“Munger University is going to launch an Internet based library called Digital library or E-Library for their students very soon.”
To give a stimulus to academic development at undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) level of studies, Munger University has decided to introduce virtual classroom system and Digital library or E-Library facility in each institution and PG departments of the university. The decision was taken during a meeting of policy decision for the upcoming year for the Varsity. E-library can help student with easy availability and accessibility of books, study material, audio and video lecture helpful for their courses. It would give more exposure to students in the field of research and other academic activities.
The vice-chancellor of Munger University, Ranjit Kumar Verma said “New system will give an opportunity to the university to start online courses for those who wish to continue further studies online in various career-oriented courses. “It would also provide an opportunity to make the university a centre for online test and examinations for university courses.” For further move for e-library “Principals of all constituent colleges have been asked to submit a proposal in this connection within 10 days for setting up of the same.”
The university has also geared up for the different comprehensive programme to be carried out throughout the year in the university. Some of them are solar energy and water harvesting programme, adoption of one village under ‘One college, One village’ programme and conducting a national seminar on ‘Science, Yoga and Innovation (on August 21 and 22).
An e-library or Digital library is a physical site or website that provide around the clock online access to digitised audio, video, and written material. It provides free copies of books, journals etc. available to the users. The digital content may be stored locally, or accessed remotely via computer networks. A digital library is a type of information retrieval system. Digital Libraries are an increasingly popular research area that encompasses more than traditional information retrieval or database methods and techniques. There are many numbers of definitions.

Munger University is a state university and was established through the bifurcation of Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University, Bhagalpur. It has jurisdiction spreading over five districts: Munger, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura, Jamui and Khagaria under Munger Division in Bihar.
Munger University came into existence on 18th March 2018 under the Bihar State Universities (Amendment) Act, 2016 (Bihar Act – 1/2017), and is presently functioning from Science block of R. D. & D. J. College, Munger. The city Munger is situated almost in between ruins of ancient Nalanda and Vikramshila Vishwavidyalaya.

Prof. Ranjit Kumar Verma is the first Vice-Chancellor and Prof. Kusum Kumari is acting as the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, and Colonel Arun Kumar Singh is the Registrar of the University.At present, there are 17 constituent colleges, 12 affiliated colleges, 5 single faculty education colleges (Affiliated B. Ed. Colleges) and one affiliated law college in the Munger University. It has been registered under section 22 of the UGC and AIU.
